why pampered moose?

Locals and visitors to Central Oregon want the best for their pets. They also want to get out, adventure, and travel where their non-human friends can’t always tag along. Some pups don’t do so well left alone or in environments outside their homes like boarding kennels or daycares; rescues and infant animals often have separation anxiety; many local rental properties require pet supervision. Each owner, pet, and home is unique. At Pampered Moose we establish an authentic relationship with each client based on communication, reliability, and trust.

Pet parents deserve to be pampered too! For those who need to get away for a few hours, a weekend, or longer, look no further than Pampered Moose for customized pet care services. We provide you with peace of mind that your animals and property are safe, loved, and expertly cared for, giving you more time, energy, and presence to do your thing.

Pampered Moose is a fully licensed and registered LLC in the State of Oregon. Pampered Moose LLC and sitters are covered by PetCare Business Insurance.
All Pampered Moose sitters are certified in cat and dog first aid.

Fear free pet care

As a Fear Free pet sitting business we do our part in employing and advocating for practices that promote the physical and emotional wellbeing of the animals in our care. We are committed to learning, recognizing and responding appropriately to even subtle signs of fear, anxiety and stress in the animals for which we are caring.

In our experience establishing relationships with dogs (frankly humans too), and based upon leading work by dog training experts such as Victoria Stilwell, behavior modification and training is relationship-based, trust-based, and confidence-based. Dogs, much like people, carry trauma; aversive interactions can add to that trauma, often worsening behavior or reactivity. As a Fear Free professional business, Pampered Moose sitters will use scientifically sound, reward-based methods. This includes avoiding methods that use fear and force to motivate the animal. We discourage the use of (and will not utilize) prong collars, shock collars (e-collars), bark collars, sprays, or other aversive handling methodologies. This kind of approach can lead to a pet care scenario providing the opposite of peace of mind for humans and animals alike. Our stance on aversives in handling and behavior modification is quite simple: if you wouldn’t want it done to your human child or yourself, we don’t do it to your dog.

Pampered Moose sitters will work with pet owners and establish relationships with the dog based upon their familiar routines and domestic environments, working to understand their cognition and how they relate to the world around them. We are happy to work within routines established by your Fear Free or positive reinforcement (R+) trainer, and are also able to recommend some fantastic Central Oregon-based dog behavior experts who root their work in kindness and relationship building.
