Frequently Asked Questions

How are your sitters trained and are they vetted before hiring?

Each pet sitter with Pampered Moose is required to complete certification in dog and cat first aid before taking their first job. Half the team is currently certified in pet CPR as well. Each sitter is hired after reviewing character and professional references, including pet care experience. Sitters adhere to a core code of conduct including risk management and client confidentiality. The Moose Crew is committed to continually developing our pet care skills together to best provide you with pet care + peace of mind.

Why do you charge for daytime care separately from overnight?

Scheduling day time services separately allows our team to prioritize and provide the best care for your pet(s). Our sitters often have other day jobs and clients, as well as family, pets, and commutes they have to carefully shuffle in order to care for your home and pet(s). Overnight care is a window of time the sitter is with your animal(s) almost 100%. Daytime care rates take into account pet owners’ daytime routines and services required, advanced scheduling, gas and mileage, travel times…

What if I want to have multiple meet + greets before I’m ready to book?

Our first scratch + sniff consultation is a complimentary service for new clients. We do understand comfort zones and taking time to make decisions. In order to honor our time and energy spent in the process, we will charge a flat fee of $25 for consultations after initial intros.

How do you prefer payment? Where can I mail my check?

PayPal and Venmo take percentage fees for all business transactions. We prefer cash or check payments made payable to Pampered Moose LLC. Pet Owners might wish to post-date checks with the invoice due date. Your sitter or dog walker can coordinate cash or checks back to the “office” for invoice payment.

You may also mail us checks (do not mail cash):

Are you a doggy daycare?

Pampered Moose is not a doggy daycare. Our services focus on pet care at the pet owner’s home. We do offer hourly pet sitting rates for in-home care, and with careful advanced planning can provide out-of-home day care for existing clients. Sometimes we provide pack walks and play dates depending upon the canine client roster du jour.

Can my pet stay at the pet sitter’s house? Do you offer boarding?

Nope. We are not a dog boarding service. We do not have a brick-and-mortar; we come to the pet owner’s home.

Why don’t you have cat specific services or reduced cat rates vs dog rates?

Our drop by services are the same base rate for a cat or a dog. We don’t consider cats a lesser class of furry family member, and dedicate as much time to their drop by visits as we would a dog. Cats thrive with regular attention and affection along with a steady, engaging and enriching routine. We don’t charge differently for our time and energy spent pampering a feline over a canine, giving you the peace of mind that your kitties are just as important as any other pet in our care.

What about gratuity?

If you would like to tip your sitter(s) you can arrange to do so with them directly. It is, of course, optional and at the pet owner’s discretion. Tipping is available directly through the online portal for payment - but it’s always most appreciated to arrange for gratuity with your sitter(s) for Venmo or cash tips.

What’s with the avoidance of dog parks?

Peace of mind is our goal in providing you with pet care. It’s not out of the question to visit a dog park, we’ll just want to be sure we are confident, comfortable, and in control before such a venture.
